Pages 1 and 2 of the journal kept between 17th December 1873 and 17 March 1874. The pages cover the dates 17 December 1873 to 18 December 1873. Includes a section of the North Altantic Ocean between Bermuda, Azores and Madeira, showing soundings and isothermal lines, obtained in HMS CHALLENGER, Captain G.S. Nares, 1873; and contains extracts from the reports of Captain Nares, HMS CHALLENGER, to Rear Admiral Richards, Hydrographer of the Admiralty, written 15 September 1873.
