Journal kept by John M Whitall, master, on board the ship NEW JERSEY, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for an East Asian (Oriental) trading voyage. Mentions death at sea, contains illustrations (land profiles and map). Carried cargo of copper and sugar, made 3 ports-of-call, spoke 2 vessels. (List in back of log of prices of provisions in Whampoa in 1825.)
