Description
Journal kept on board the schooner MIDAS of Baltimore, Maryland, Alexander Thompson, master, for a privateering voyage. Mentions death at sea. Made 6 ports-of-call, and spoke 20 vessels. Contains list of prizes and prisoners, gives account of raid on English plantations on Royal Island in retaliation for burning of Washington, D.C., also contains copy of letter from James Monroe, U.S. Secretary of State, revoking captain Thompson's commission.
